Beige Bunny is the Most Popular

What is the most popular Jellycat? Without doubt over the length of time we have been selling Jellycats it has to be the Bashful Beige Bunny Medium with scrummy-soft fur and lovely long flopsy ears mean that with just one cuddle, you’ll never want to let go. Irresistibly cute and a perfect gift for boys or girls. Everyone treasures the Beige Bashful Bunny. Why not collect the family? Here are the Bunny sizes available, Jellycat have recently changed their size ‘names’ so we have included both old/new for reference.

• Tiny previously Baby Bunny is so cute and tiny at only 13cms tall.
• Little prviously called Small is slightly larger at 18cms, then he starts to get bigger,
• Original used to be referred to as Medium at 31cms
• Large at 36cms, and then we get to the much bigger ones,
• Big previously named as Huge at 51cms gives impressive hugs, but for Giant cuddles….
• Really Big at 67cms is super sized!
• Giant previously called Really Really Big, or Very Big at 108cms is super super sized!

Jelly Cat love to bring newness each year. Although you can not improve on a Bunny, new colours (and some times new sizes) get added to the Bashful Bunny range twice a year, so keep looking out for those amazing and special new releases.

However with bi-annual releases new plush soft toys will become more popular for a period of time, as people seek to get hold of new items that are in high demand, but the bashful beige bunny over the long run proves to be the all time favourite.

Other bashful bunny colours aside, next we would have to say it is the Fuddlewuddles and the star of the pack is Fuddlewuddle Elephant as an all time best seller. Fuddlewuddle Dragon knocked him off the top spot in recent times but we feel Fuddlewuddle Elephant will stand the test of time.

Fuddlewuddles

We are so smitten by the Fuddlewuddles, they are just so fuddle-tastic, cute and soft. You just have to look at the Fuddlewuddle Lion, Fuddlewuddle Elephant, and Fuddlewuddle Monkey, our best sellers, they are just gorgeous. We have the Lion and Elephant in medium, large and huge sizes. We have also added the new Fuddlewuddle Dragon in both medium and huge sizes. Fuddlewuddle Dino along with Cat, Pig, Fox, Hippo, Puppy, together with a new range of Fuddlewuddle Soothers and comforters will delight your loved ones.

How to Wash a Jellycat?

We often get asked about Jelly Cat Care, “are Jellycats Machine Washable?”, or “can I wash a Jellycat?”, or “how to make them soft again?” these questions come up time and again all over the internet, on parenting website sites such as Mumsnet. Well according to Jellycat they advise most of their soft toys are not machine washable. This is what Jellycat FAQ “Can you wash a Jellycat” says on their website. “Unless otherwise stated on the sew-in label, we recommend a surface wash of all our toys with soap and rinsed with cool water. Then for the fur to be dried with a hair dryer.

Some soothers and comforters are suitable for a cool machine wash- please check the sew-in label.” Surprisingly even some of their comforters and soothers say “Hand wash only; do not tumble dry, dry clean or iron. Not recommended to clean in a washing machine.” Whilst others like the Bashful Bunny Soothers say “40 degree Celsius wash only; do not tumble dry, dry clean or iron.”

Speaking from experience I have washed my little ones Jellycat Toys several times in the washing machine and they are fine, a little blow dry with a hair dryer to fluff them up again, almost as good as new! I think the answer to the question is more common sense. For instance I probably wouldn’t put any of the long hair toys in the washing machine! Would you put a Book in the washing machine? I hope the answer to that question is clearly no! The paper books are “Wipe Clean Only” they are coated so any spills or dribbles that are wiped off will not leave its mark. Whilst the “Tails” books are made from 100% polyester they are “Sponge clean only; do not tumble dry, dry clean or iron. Not recommended to clean in a washing machine.” Perhaps this is because most of them have sound effects. Some have mechanical sounds like rustling and others will have non removable batteries. Of course all Jellycat Soft Toys come with clear care labels so always check these first and above all just use your own common sense. Another question we get asked a lot is…

Are Jellycat Toys Safe for Babies | Can Baby Sleep with a Jellycat Toy?

Mostly yes they are, but not ALL are recommended for babies, some are only suitable from 12 months, always check the label. Whilst almost all Jellycats say “Tested to and passes the European Safety Standard for toys: EN71 parts 1, 2 & 3 for all ages.” some will also say “Not recommended for children under 12 months due to fibre shedding.” For example some of the Fuddlewuddles would not be safe for babies, such like the Fuddlewuddle Lion, Donkey and Unicorn.The larger toys will also say “Suitable from birth. Huge and Large sizes – please do not leave in a cot/ crib.” So once again common sense really!

Jellycat are an amazing success and without any direct marketing or promotion of their products to the public, have grown to be the leading soft toy brand, how/why?

It has to be credited to their original quirkiness in producing high quality, fun and original soft animal toys, whilst the rest of competion continued to produce toy animals that resembled true to their like. Jellycat UK thereby found a niche in producing soft and adorable animal toys that babies love and their parents do too! I saw it in both our own children and grand children. Introducing them to a Jellycat versus any other soft toy, there was simply no comparison, thes toys just simply appeal to babies like no other. I can personally attest to it as both parent and grandparent, “je ne sais quoi” it is something I can not really explain, it’s just magical. Our kids and now our grand children have quite a collection! and with each new release they find yet another must have soft toy.

It is not just children that find them so irrestibly, there are avid collectors out there, thousands of them that just can not wait for the next release. Their following is huge on social media, with various collector pages on Facebook and Instagram and now TikTok.

Some say that they are overpriced or expensive, yet a second hand core product like the Bashful Bunny or Fuddlewuddle can sell on some collector sites for almost twice its RRP, whilst retired lines will then seek 5 fold their original RRP. So a particular Jellycat can very much become a collectable item and investment! But in the main people buy them as toys for their beloved children and will be their truely well loved favourite possesion, it is always adviseable to have a backup spare just incase their favourite gets lost, to avoid the crisis that may persue!

None of this has been engineered or driven by the company from a marketing strategy, it is purely the fan base that has made them so popular. So quite simply Jellycat are a phenonimal example of the success that is created from bringing to market something different and sticking by their vision, to create great quality, fun and quirky soft toys that appeal to both children and adults alike.
